The procedure of providing medical rehabilitation is regulated by Order No. V-50 of 17/01/2008 of the Minister of Health “On organization of medical rehabilitation and sanatorium/anti-relapse treatment”. The above Order and other orders of the Minister of Health are available at www.sam.lt.
Palanga Rehabilitation Hospital has agreements with all territorial health insurance funds (THIF) of Lithuania: Vilnius (www.vilniaustlk.lt), Kaunas (www.kaunotlk.lt), Klaipėda (www.klaipedostlk.lt), Šiauliai (www.siauliutlk.lt) and Panevėžys (www.paneveziotlk.lt). Patients from all over Lithuania are welcome.
For the patients who have a THIF certificate with a reference ‘for rehabilitation’, the price includes a bed in a ward, meals and treatments.
For the patients who have a THIF certificate with a reference ‘for outpatient rehabilitation’, the price only includes part of treatment procedures. Accommodation and meals in our hospital cost additional EUR 28.09 per patient per day in a two-bed ward.
Order No. V-1173 of 14 November 2014 of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Lithuania “On Order No. DT-8/1 of 21 August 2014 of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Lithuania “On recalculation of base prices for personal health care services paid from the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund budget after introduction of the euro in the Republic of Lithuania.”
Order No. V-778 of 14 June 2016 of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Lithuania “On amendment of Order No. V-50 of 17/01/2008 of the Minister of Health “On organization of medical rehabilitation and sanatorium/anti-relapse treatment”. Additional charges for services paid from the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund (CHIF) budget do not apply.
On arrival for rehabilitation, please bring:
- Outpatient Rehabilitation Certificate (if the patient arrives for outpatient rehabilitation) issued by a territorial health insurance fund, which entitles the patient to compensation for medical rehabilitation.
- Extract from the Medical Record (form 027/a), which is filled in and issued by the principal/referring physician.
- Personal ID.
- Medical certificate for employed persons (if you have a printed copy of e-certificate), pensioner's or disability certificate.
- Certificate from labour exchange.
- Prescription book.
Main information for the patient:
- The necessity to refer a patient for medical rehabilitation is decided by the principal physician together with physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists.
- Present the Extract from the Medical Record (form 027/a) and the Certificate for a Voucher (form 070/a, issued by the principal physician) to the Territorial Health Insurance Fund (THIF), which will then issue a certificate for medical rehabilitation.
- The proposal of the principal physician, rehabilitation specialist of employee of the Territorial Health Insurance Fund to choose one or another rehabilitation institution corresponding to your needs is only recommendatory.
- You are the one who decides which institution to choose for rehabilitation, because it is your exclusive right.
- You can receive the information about specific treatments available in a particular rehabilitation institution:
- In territorial health insurance funds;
- On websites of institutions providing rehabilitation services;
- By calling the institution concerned.
